I have been doing pottery for 18 years. (Oh my! Has it been that long?) I first learned pottery from an excellent ceramics teacher in Southern California, Rob Kibler. I discovered that my ability to decorate and paint the surface of my pottery was one of my main strengths. So I like to make simple thrown shapes, and then decorate them with colorful abstract (or realistic) designs. I use both earthenware and stoneware clays. I enjoy using a variety of mediums, including majolica, oxides painted on stoneware, and colorful underglazes used in a sgraffito design on earthenware. My designs can vary from floral to abstract, to the funkiness that is my "Cowboy" series. "Leafware" and floral decorated pottery >> Floral, leaf & cowboy ceramics on page 3 >>
