Sealing the Wall

Secure the overlapping edges of the vinyl with the duct tape (tool #9). The inside edge needs to be sealed completely from top to bottom to prevent wet plaster seeping between the layers.

inside tape

Attach tape to cover entire edge of the vinyl.

The outside overlap only needs to be held in place; no moisture-proofing necessary.

Attaching Wall to Floor

Center the taped wall around the clay model.

Press coils of moist clay (about as big around as your index finger) to seal the gap where the "wall" meets the "floor." While doing this, the wall can be shaped into an oval, as it is being held in place by the clay.

clay seal outside

Seal the outside first.

Now press coils of clay to the inside of the joint. This "double seal" insures that there will be no plaster leaks.

With the second plastic trash bag, cover the entire mold assembly until the plaster is ready to pour.
