Now that the ocarina model is made, it's time to make the mold "box." This "box" is where the model is placed while the liquid plaster is poured over it.

The materials and equipment used for this process are reviewed here.

Mold Box - Floor

To start, insert the shallow cardboard box (#10) into the plastic trash bag (#11).

Cut a piece of the sheet vinyl flooring (#7) to fit, and lay it inside the plastic-covered box, shiny side up. This will be the "floor" of the mold. The cardboard box inside the plastic trash bag acts as a "catch-all" in case there is a plaster leak.

Lightly spray the vinyl sheet with water, and moisten the cut side of one of the two pieces of the clay model.

Now, place the clay model piece, cut side down, on to the vinyl flooring sheet in the box.

Slide the clay model back and forth a few times so it will adhere to the damp vinyl.

Center the clay model.
