Brian Ransom "Hooter"


This is an ocarina made by Brian Ransom which he calls a "Hooter." This one was bought from him in Claremont, California in the spring of 1989 at a folk music festival.

The hand slides over the large hole to change the pitch while playing.

The airway has a large exit slot. The air stream is not compressed much, which creates an airier sound.

The diagram shows that the voicing hole is beveled on the underside only. The blue shows the shape of the air column in the windway.
