Glazing a Stoneware Sculpture
(Dragon Ocarina)

Glazing

Now I "paint" thin layers of glaze over the entire body, including the glaze-accented areas. I use brush #3 for this.

First, apply 1 watered-down coat of Snowflake glaze (1 part water to 1 part glaze). Let dry, then apply 1 watered-down coat of the cream glaze (also 1 part water to 1 part glaze).

The dragon will look like this.

"Detailing"

Use brush #1 to apply the black glaze to the eyes.

Use the needle tool (#3) to scratch out the excess glaze that may have collected in the creases of the sculpture. (the mouth, and around the eyes mostly)

glazed dragon 2

Glazed, bisque fired dragon ocarina. The unfired glaze is white now, but when fired it becomes less opaque, and the clay will show through.
