How to Glaze a Ceramic Ocarina

Tidying Up the Ocarina

When the glaze is completely dry it is time to clean any excess glaze out of the finger holes and voicing area. Note the unevenness of the finger holes where glaze has collected.

Use a wet cotton swab (tool #1) to moisten the excess glaze in the finger holes (Figure 1). Use tool #3 to scrape out the softened glaze (Figure 2).

"Twirl" a damp cotton swab around the inside edge of each finger hole, pressing firmly to remove any remaining glaze. Change the swab frequently when it becomes saturated with glaze.

When finished, the the inside of the finger holes should be free of glaze.
